The post Make a Family Reunion Centerpiece That Doubles as Decor appeared first on Mod Podge Rocks.
]]>I’m on a Mod Podge photo transfer medium binge! After my breakfast tray project last month, my mind started percolating with other ways I could use MP transfer.
My Etsy shop and blog are pretty much all about home, family, and memories. I hit on this idea for a family reunion centerpiece (that could also be used for an anniversary, wedding, unique home decor . . . pretty much any celebration).
I thought it would be a fun way to celebrate a family’s history with names, street addresses, wedding dates, etc. I made it, I liked it, and photographed it. Then, as often happens, I thought, “Wait! I have a better idea!”
And once I started on the better idea, I suddenly realized, “Wait! I could do it this way!!”
Such is the nature of my creative process.
The issue is that in this instance, my creative process had a deadline because of the date of the party. So what follows is a tutorial on how I made my family reunion centerpiece, along with tips on how to augment it to make your own version.
At the end of this wood craft there’s a brainstorm of other variations that I hope you will enjoy. This project would look wonderful with rustic or farmhouse decor – and after the reunion it makes a beautiful decor piece. Here’s what you’re going to need!
Here is version with tapers rather than tea lights:

Hi, my name is Rachel from Lines Across, and I’m happy to be contributing here at Mod Podge Rocks! I’m a little obsessed with geometric shapes and bright colors, and often share free printable gift boxes.
Today I’m sharing how to make a paper garland. If you like glitter crafts that are easy to make and you like party crafts, you’re going to enjoy this.
I’ve had this project in mind since I created some diamond shaped gift boxes. I knew I wanted to make a smaller version that could be strung together into a fun garland for a celebration.
This paper garland project was pretty easy, but it took a little longer than I thought. It would be perfect as a project for a craft night with a few friends, as a part of a handmade wedding, or as something to make while watching TV.
Learn how to make this project in a few simple steps below!

I just love the way the glittery pink and gold look next to the plain kraft paper. What color combos would you love?

I actually did this DIY cake stand last year, but I wanted to share it again because I really like it. Vintage holiday-ish colors are my fav, and I think the blue and silver work in that regard – yet I could use this for a party all year round. If you love DIY cake stands for party or decorating . . . this is SO easy and inexpensive!
I assembled this DIY dessert stand for only $1. I had everything else on hand. I would love to do a series of these in coordinating patterns so that the party table I don’t have yet looks cool.
One day I will have a party table, and this will be on it! Here’s how I made this cake stand.

Notes and Thoughts on This Project
Before you paint anything glass with glass paint, you’ll want to make sure to clean it with mild soap and water and then let dry. You can also use rubbing alcohol.
When you paint the candlestick, make sure that you use a soft brush or the strokes will show in the paint. You will also need to paint several layers if it’s a metallic paint, letting dry between layers.
And since I’m basically a psychic, I can already predict your question. Can you put food directly on your DIY cake stand? You could, but then the decoupage police would come and arrest you.
The manufacturer recommends a clear glass plate on top of the decoupaged plate. Are you ready to try this project? The how-to card is below!

Hi, it’s David from Cheltenham Road.
Each year I throw a big Christmas Dessert Party. It’s one of my favorite things to do for the holidays. Tons of great friends and, of course, a chance for me to eat share a lot of my favorite desserts!
This year is no exception, and I’m really looking forward to it. I’ve been building my list of recipes and ideas over on Pinterest and trying to get things done as far in advance as possible so I can relax and enjoy the season.
I always try to make each dessert just a nibble, and cake pops are always a big hit.
In years past I just stuck them in some styrofoam, covered it with fake snow for a festive look, and called it a day. This got a bit messy as the evening wore on.
This year I thought I’d kick it up a notch and create a DIY cake pop holder just for the cake pops (or anything else I might “stick on a stick”! Last year I made s’mores on sticks. I highly recommend s’mores on sticks!).
Anyway. I gathered my supplies for this wood Christmas craft. Here’s what you’ll need.

One Holiday Party Project knocked out. Now I just need to go buy a Costco sized bag of sugar, and I’m all set! Have a great Thanksgiving everyone. -David

]]>Hello friends! It’s Aki here again from Minted Strawberry. It’s fun to make and have unexpected and unique kitchen and food accessories – it paves the way for sometimes interesting conversations at parties.
These DIY food picks are an example of that – wouldn’t you want to ask where the host possibly got this? I was making some dollhouse accessories for my little sister when I thought of making these fabulous mod melt frames into cute food picks or cupcake picks.
I figured I would try them and see, after all, there’s no harm in trying, right? I so love how they turned out that I am planning to make a bunch to send to my sister to use for her cupcakes for her birthday party in a few months!
I am quite sure a lot of her friends are going to ask where she got them. And it’s easy too! Read on for the how-to.
Gather These Supplies
These party picks are completely reusable as well! You can take the toothpick off by either cutting the hot glue off the backs of the frames or pulling off the washi tape.
Why not keep these for another party or use these in another craft?
Love how fun and elegant they look! Perfect for a tween or teen party or even as wedding food picks – don’t you think so?

]]>Hey party peopleeeeeee! How’s it going today? If you’re here, I’m assuming you’re planning for a celebration.
Well I’ve been known to throw quite a shindig in my time. I’m not a big partier to be honest. Here’s how I roll, personally: I don’t party it up very often, but when I do, I go ALL in!
I commit to food, outfits, decor, all of it. That happens whether I’m in attendance or I’m the hostess. Being the hostess means I’ll go that much further.
It might be crazy, but I just feel like because I don’t do it that often, I should go all out. So I have fun with it!
Anyhoo, that’s what this blog post is all about. It’s about going all out and making an impression at your next celebration. I’ve shared party crafts before and now I’m sharing another important collection: DIY party favors!
On this list are two things – 1) containers to fill with stuff and 2) projects that are the favors themselves. If you make any of the containers, here are some small items to shove in them:
There are a lot more too! I’d love to hear your suggestions in the comments.
Take a peek at this list of DIY favors and let me know what you think! There are ideas for every holiday and every type of celebration, so something will definitely fit your party. Happy crafting!
If you decide to forgo the store bought favors and make any from this list, I’d love for you to let me know in the comments! You should also check out these other posts:
